The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District (UCISD) is installing Omnilert’s AI-powered gun detection system on all 550 of its security cameras this fall after receiving our Safe Haven Grant. UCISD is the first district in the U.S. to benefit from this program, which covers the technology free of charge for three years. Our AI Gun Detect technology constantly scans live video feeds for firearms, verifies threats within seconds, and can trigger lockdowns while alerting police and staff. Superintendent Ashley Chohlis spoke to KENS 5 about the integration of this technology, stating that the system provides a new peace of mind to the community and is a way to strengthen existing safety measures.
The Safe Haven Grant program was created for schools, like Uvalde, that have been impacted by gun violence but may not have the resources to adequately improve security. Click here to view the whole KENS 5 article and video about the implementation of the Safe Haven Grant in UCISD.
