Shady Grove Now Using Omnilert Emergency Notification System

Students, staff and faculty will now get instant alerts of closings, delays, early dismissals, and other important news sent directly to the palm of their hand

Omnilert LLC, makers of the notification system, today announced that The Universities at Shady Grove (USG) has recently adopted Omnilert. USG students, staff and faculty will now get instant alerts and emergency notifications in the palm of their hand. Omnilert enables school officials to send instant alerts of school closings, delays, early dismissals, and other important news directly to registered subscribers email accounts and mobile phones via SMS text messages.

”Once students sign up, the alert goes right to their cell phones the minute the news happens,” notes Russell Schlosburg, IT Coordinator for USG. “It is a really convenient system.”

Besides snow delays and closings, Omnilert will be used to communicate important information during any potential emergency, such as homeland security advisories, tornado warnings, crime watches, power failures, or other events.
