Instantly Know About Your School's Closings and Delays From the Palm of Your Hand with School's Out Plus

This emergency notification service sends important school alerts directly to your mobile phone via SMS text messaging

September 7, 2005 - San Antonio, TX - School's Out, the leading provider of emergency notification services for K-12 school districts, private schools and colleges, announced their newest service called School's Out Plus. This emergency notification service (ENS) allows parents, students, and school staff to receive the most timely, up-to-date information on unscheduled school closings, early dismissals, delays and other important news directly to their mobile phones as soon as it becomes available. The service is now available in over 150 school districts, private schools and colleges around the country. Since the beta launch of this service a few days prior to this public announcement, hundreds of people have already subscribed to School's Out Plus to stay informed as a result of Hurricane Katrina.

School's Out has provided a free email service to both parents and schools since 1996. With the arrival of School's Out Plus, subscribers will instantly receive an SMS text message on their mobile phone whenever their school sends out an alert. Subscribers will now be informed about the status of their children's school wherever they go and without the trouble of turning on their computer, TV or radio. This service is available to subscribers for $12.95 a year. As a special promotion, subscribers who sign up before October 31, 2005, will pay only $9.95.

"School's Out was started in 1996 when a group of concerned parents in Frederick, Maryland were unable to find out information regarding early dismissals during Hurricane Fran," explains Ian Warshak, President of NotiSys, LLC, the provider of School's Out. "That original service is now called School's Out Basic, which posts notifications on www.schoolsout.com and sends an email to subscribers free of charge. Now subscribers can upgrade to School's Out Plus, which uses push technology to get urgent news in the hands of subscribers - literally! It's a service that our subscribers have been requesting for years and we are proud to announce its availability today."

Schools in Alabama, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin currently use the School's Out service. During the school year, School's Out can send on average up to 1,000,000 email alerts per week. School's Out works directly with school system administrators to provide this ENS to parents of school children, school administration personnel and students. With more than 250,000 email subscribers registered to receive the free automatic email notifications, the School's Out emergency alert service enables these users to receive school closure information from a specific school district, private school or college via the School's Out secure servers to an email account, cell phone or mobile device.
